- Alexander Knight was a Private in Company A, 14th West Virginia Infantry. He joined for duty on 14 Aug 1862 in West Union for three years. He mustered in on 23 Aug 1862 in Wheeling, and mustered out on 27 Jun 1865 in Cumberland, Maryland. His military records show that he was a farmer, with physical description 5'11" tall, blue eyes, light hair, fair complexion. He was documented as being on guard duty at Piedmont, Va., in March 1863. In April and May 1863, he was on guard duty at Rawlings Station, Maryland, on the B&O Railroad.
