      "The rendition of 'Uncle Josh Whitcomb' by local talent, under the direction of Mr. Jack Goodwin, in the Opera House last Saturday evening was enjoyed by a well filled house. All the performers played their parts well and were roundly applauded. The dancing by --- Kitson and Jas. Thorndell was pronounced firstclass and the cake walk was enjoyed by all. The first venture proved that West Union talent is all right. We are promised another in the near future."

      WEST UNION BOY SERIOUSLY HURT AT NEW BREMEN
      "Last Saturday, James Thorndell was seriously hurt at New Bremen, Ohio. It is not known just how it happened, but he was working with an unloader when he was struck on the head with a piece of timber. He was rendered unconscious and had not rallied Monday. He was reared here and is well known."
