McClain, but in his death record and obituary as Robert & Nancy McClain. In the 1870 Census, he was enumerated in the household of Alexander J. & Nancy McClain in a manner implying that he was their son, although that year's census did not state relationships. Daniel S. McClain's 1920 obituary listed Alex McClain as a surviving brother, possibly this Robert Alexander McClain. But he was not listed among surviving siblings in Nancy McClain Husk's 1938 obituary. We have not found him in the 1860 Census.
