      Identified as Martha A. Smith, white female, born alive on May 8 1878 at Camp Mistake, dau of Thomas Smith (resident of Camp Mistake) & Matilda E. Smith. Informant: M. E. Smith, mother.
      (NOTE 1: Camp Mistake, which is situated on the border between Tyler and Doddridge counties, is more often considered to be a part of Doddridge County.)
      (NOTE 2: A second record for this birth is on file in Doddridge County. BR p. 99, Line 38, www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_view.aspx?Id=2608239&Type=Birth, identifies the child as Martha Ann Smith, white female, born alive on May 8 1878 in Doddridge County, dau of Thomas Smith & Matilda Underwood. Informant: "Aunt, Parents' Family Bible." Since this typewritten ledger entry was clearly made well after the fact, the original handwritten record in Tyler County is considered to have more validity. Both her marriage and death records state her birthplace as Tyler County.)
      (NOTE 3: This child did not appear by name in the 1880 Census, but was apparently misidentified as her deceased sister Cora, who was stillborn in 1876. Martha A. (Smith) Callihan appeared in the 1900 Census with a birth date of May 1878.)
