| Notes |
- Local news item, "Doddridge County Republican," Thursday, Aug 20 1914, in its entirety:
"John A. Langfitt of Eagle Mills passed through West Union Thursday evening with the prettiest pair of heavy sorrels we have seen in this section in a long time. For size, beauty and matching, they were certainly hard to beat, and the admiration of the West Union boys -- who mostly know a good 'pair' when they see 'em -- was unbounded."
Local news item in the "Shirley" column, "West Union Record," Thursday, Dec 14 1916, in its entirety:
"Funny things to see -- Uncle John Langfitt wearing his old straw hat at the surprise party that some of his neighbors held in honor of his birthday last Thursday."
