In 1929, Ernest Sutton was the principal excavator of two small prehistoric burial mounds located on a private farm in Morgansville, Doddridge County. His excavation unearthed several girant skeletons measuring over seven feet in height, and well as a quantity of ancient artifacts. A series of articles describing the excavation in detail was published in the Clarksburg Exponent newspaper in summer 1930.
