    Age 71y 3m 23d in death record calculates to a birth date of 15 Nov 1818. But age 30 in the 1850 Census puts it in about 1820, while age 38 in 1860 puts it in about 1822.

    Buried:
    Burial location given in death record only as West Union. This almost certainly refers to Blockhouse Hill Cemetery, in either the IOOF or the Old SDB (Pioneer) section. However, cemetery readings failed to locate a headstone for him or his wife.

    Burial given in death record as West Union, while her obituary states "the West Union cemetery." Customarily, this would indicate the IOOF Cemetery at Blockhouse Hill, although some of her family is buried at the Masonic Cemetery at Crystal Lake near West Union. Readings of both cemeteries have failed to locate a grave marker for her.

    Died:
    The death record on file at the Doddridge County Clerk's office indicates Thomas Bennett's middle name as McCarroll and that he was single, while the death certificate at the West Virginia Division of Vital Statistics shows his middle name as McCarl and marital status married. In both cases the informant was R. E. Bennett (his sister Rebecca Elizabeth). with place of death Central District of Doddridge County and burial in the County Cemetery. This make it almost certain that his place of death was the County Infirmary, also known as the County Poor Farm, located about five miles outside West Union on Sunnyside Road. That institution no longer exists, but the nearby County Cemetery, containing countless unmarked graves, can still be found. Other than his death certificate, there is no record of Thomas McC. Bennett's burial location.

    MRS. M. LELIA MCCONNELL DIES AFTER SHORT ILLNESS
    Mrs. Martha Lelia McConnell, 73, of West Union, passed away with a sudden heart attack at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 15. She died near St. Marys while riding in the Smith-Doak ambulance, while enroute to her home from a Parkersburg hospital. She had been a patient there for the past two weeks for observation and treatment.
