He fought in many battles, including the Invasion of North Africa, the Invasion of Sicily, the Invasion of Normandy, the Liberation of Paris, the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes, the Bridge at Remagen and Central Europe.

    He also held office as the president of the Local Steelworkers Union 2997 for three years.
