    Notes:

    A graduate of Doddridge County High School, Wetzel C. Kimball attended Potomac State College for two years and Salem College for one year. Prior to entering the Army, Wetzel Kimball worked for Cove Valley Block Co, Rice Electric Co, the War Production Board in Washington DC, and had been an elementary school teacher in Doddridge County. His military training included Power Turret School at Lowry Field in Denver, Colorado, and Aerial Gunnery School at Tyndall Field, Panama City, Florida, graduating as a Power Turret & Gunsight Specialist.

    He was assigned to the 8th Air Support Command, England, and the 9th Air Force in England and France, classified as an armorer-gunner and serving as a tail gunner on a B-26 Martin M Marauder, dubbed "Five by Fives," one of the Flying Stripe Group. On Nov 25, 1944, he was killed in action over La Neuville, France. He had completed seventy combat missions in the European Theater of Operations. Awards included the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with 12 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Purple Heart. At the time of his death, two brothers, Coy and David, had been prisoners of the Japanese since the fall of Corregidor.
