    Notes:

    Serving in the U.S. Army in World War II, he took part in the Naples, Faggio, Rome Arno and Southern France campaigns. In 1945, on the way to help liberate a prison camp in Nuremburg, Germany, he was seriously wounded. Later that year he was discharged with EAME Theater service medal, four Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart with four Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was on the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Salem for over 20 years, and served as president for six years. He was one of the founding fathers of the Salem Apple Butter Festival, and for 12 years he served as treasurer and general helper for the event.

    Robert married Willa Lee FULTZ 12 Jun 1948, Harrison Co, WV. Willa (daughter of Ernest Ellsworth FULTZ and Wilma Mazella FINLEY) was born CA 1928; died 18 Aug 2002. [Group Sheet]
