Bk 1-B, p. 17, the latter giving Aug 24 1853 as the date the marriage license was issued.  The ceremony itself was held 
Aug 25 1853.  Groom identified as Josiah Hart, age 24, born in Baltimore MD.  Bride identified as Mary Mathew, age 18, 
b. Preston County.  Her given age would put birth in about 1835, but 1900 Census gives her age as 68 and states her 
birthdate as Jan 1832.  MR Bk 1 listed bride's parents as Humphrey & Sarah Ann Mathew, but MR Bk 1-B identified her 
father as Overfield Matthews.

There was an earlier marriage license issued for this couple in Doddridge County, on Dec 8 1858, which was apparently 
never used.  In it, the wife was identified as Catharine Mathew, 27, dau of Nimphra S. J. Mathew.  The handwritten entry 
is not clear and was presumably intended to be Humphrey 
Mathew.
