Married Feb 26 1884 at residence of Daniel Heldreth. Absalom's birth data is at variance with his birthdate reported elsewhere, Jun 12 1840 in Preston Co. But immediate family, namely the authors of "Hileman Genealogy," state that this is the same Absalom Hileman. MR 2-273 : www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_view.aspx?Id=11790448&Type=Marriage. Event Notes Note (1) Birthplace given in 1858 marriage record as Harrison County, in 1870 marriage record as Preston County, in 1884 marriage record as Monongalia County, and in death record as Barbour County. Note (2) The 1890 Veterans Survey, in which he was listed as Absolem Hyleman, indicates his service dates as Jul 1861 to 1865, unit given as 14th W.Va. Inf, company not specified. Information in that Survey is generally as provided to the enumerator by the veteran himself. But "Hileman Genealogy" reports his service dates as Sep 1864 to Jun 1865, which is more in keeping with his documented draft registration in Jul 1863. Other records, including his Civil War pension record, indicate his unit as Co C, 6th W.Va. Inf. Note (3) In 1900, she was listed as Rebecca Heldrith, 51, b. Jul 1848, single, sister to head of household Rhododone (?) Heldrith (male), b. Jun 1864. It is noted that Rebecca E. Heldreth did marry Absalom Hileman in 1884, that his marital status was widowed in his 1892 death record, and that there was no claim for a widow's pension filed on his Civil War service record.
