Event Notes Note (1) Although her death record reflects a death date of Nov 24 1916, her obituary, published in the "West Union Record" of Thursday, Dec 28 1916, states that she died "last Wednesday at Greenwood." That would reflect a death date of Dec 20 1916. If the Wednesday reference is accurate, the Nov 24th date is incorrect, since Nov 24 1916 fell on a Thursday. Given these factors, and since it is unlikely that a local obituary would be printed a full month after a death, it is more likely that the death record is in error and that the Dec 20th death date is correct. Note (2) Birth date given in 1900 Census as Nov 1876, and on headstone and in Social Security application as Nov 8 1876. But that conflicts with the documented 1876 birth date of his sister Ella and is inconsistent with the 1880 Census, in which he was age 5 and Ella was age 4. His birth record shows that he was born on Nov 16 1874 in Gilmer County. His birthplace was incorrectly given as Ohio in the 1900 Census. Note (3) Birth date given in birth record as Jun 29 1876, but in 1900 Census as Sep 1876, and in death record as Oct 29 1876.
