Note (2) Newspaper article, "West Union Record," Thursday, Dec 14 1916, in its entirety: DODDRIDGE COUNTY BOY CAPTAIN OF MARSHALL FOOTBALL Hugh Davisson has been elected captain of the Marshall College Football team. He is now in a Huntington hospital with his back in a plaster cast from injuries sustained in a football game three weeks ago. He is a son of E. H. Davisson, of Harlin, and is one of the best in Marshall College, in baseball as well as football. Local news item, "West Union Record," Thursday, Dec 28 1916, in its entirety: "Misses Hattie and Mary Davisson, of Harlin, spent Wednesday night in West Union. The former is teaching in Harrison County. She and her sister, Miss May, were at Huntington the fore part of last week to see their brother, Hugh, the football player, who is still in a hospital with a badly injured back, the result of an injury in a game aggravating injuries inflicted by a horse in boyhood. His conditin is serious, having innumerable convulsions, but the doctors think he will recover."
