The child is identified as Thomas J. Ramsey, white male, born alive in Ritchie County, single birth, father A. J. Ramsey (occupation farmer, resident of Ritchie County), mother Lydia J. Ramsey. Informant: A. J. Ramsey, father. The spaces for the month and day of birth were lined through, with no date entered. Some researchers have interpreted this to be a form of ditto marks, indicating the same date as the preceding entry, which was Nov 16. But this appears unlikely, especially since the 1900 Census shows his birth date to be September 1896, age 3. Supporting documents were an affidavit from his sister Mary M. Parkhill, his WW II draft registration card, and the birth record of one of his children. The birth date on his headstone is 1899. It is noted, however, that although his WW II draft registration shows his birth date as Sep 18 1899, his WW One draft registration shows it as Sep 18 1898.
