Event Notes
Note (1) Although his birth date is specified in his death record as Jan 8 1871, his
stated age of 52y 11m 26d yields a birth date of Dec 7 1880.  The 1900 Census
gives his age as 20, birth date Jan 1880, and his headstone also indicates 1880.
But he did not appear in the 1880 Census.  Age 33 at time of March 1914 marriage
would put birth in about 1881, as would age 49 in the 1930 Census.  It appears
likely, then, that the Jan 8 1871 entry on his death record was a clerical error
intended to be Jan 8 1881.  Overriding all else, however, is the entry in
Ritchie County birth records indicating that Thomas Broadwater, a son of Thomas
Broadwater, was born on March 7 1881.
