However, the Diary of Flavius Josephus Ashburn, p. 73, in an entry for July 1861, states "On Sunday the 7th, that evening Nancy and I went by way of New Salem to Lucinda Strothers. (I would have wrote to Arden Strothers instead of Lucinda Strothers, but Arden, having lost his right mind, has put his property out of his hands and left his family and went off with an ornery girl.)"
