Ringer, single, oil worker, born Dec 1 1892 in Doddridge Co, son of W. H. H. Ringer (b. Pa) & Anna F. Ringer; died Oct 13 1926 in (location blank), age 32y 10m 12d, cause of death (blank), burial in West Union on Oct 20 1926. Informant: Anna F. Ringer. A second entry on the ledger-style death record contained nearly identical information, except that the death location was given as West Union in Doddridge County, that his employment as an oil worker was with J. E. Trainer, that his mother's name was Anna F. Trainer (b. in Doddridge Co), and that the cause of death was "Unknown." Informant again was Anna F. Ringer. A third death record, a death certificate filed at the Division of Vital Statistics, WV State Dept of Health, contains the same information as the second entry above, with cause of death given as tuberculosis. www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_view.aspx?Id=698198&Type=Death Despite the foregoing, the obituary of Frank Herbert Ringer, printed in the West Union Herald of Oct 21 1926, clearly states that he died in Ranger, Texas, with other particulars conforming to the above. Event Notes Note (1) Burial location given in her obituary as "the West Union cemetery," and her death record has it simply as West Union. It is presumed that she was buried in the same plot as her husband, in the IOOF section of Blockhouse Hill Cemetery, but there is no marker for her. Note (2) Birth date given in 1900 Census as Dec 1890. But his birth record, SSDI and WW I draft registration show it as Jan 8 1891, and the date on his headstone is also 1891. Note (3) Listed as Glen B. Ringer, 28, b. WVa, married, laborer, one of many inmates at the U.S. Penitentiary. Note (4) Birth date given in 1900 Census as May 1894, but death record shows it as Dec 1 1893, and date on headstone is also 1893. Note (5) Local news item, "West Union Herald," Thursday, Jan 25 1917, in its entirety: "Perry J. Ingle and Frank Ringer left Saturday evening for Akron, O., where they will work in a rubber factory."Name Index
