But in an interview for an article printed in the April 28, 1929 issue of the Clarksburg "Sunday Exponent-Telegram," William H. Ramsey stated that he "was born on August 11, 1840, in Monongalia County at a point between Morgantown and Mt. Morris, Pa." While his family was enumerated in Monongalia County in the 1840 Census, it is unclear whether he was included in it. The family was in Barbour County for the 1850 and 1860 censuses.
