Event Notes Note (1) Military record show that he enlisted as a Private in the 12th WV Infantry, Company E on 5 Aug 1862 in Clarksburg, Harrison County, for a 3 year term. He was 23 years old, 6' tall, dark complexion, hazel eyes, and dark hair. His occupation was a laborer. He was reported as MIA/POW at Winchester, Virginia, on Jun 15 1863. U.S. National Cemetery Interment Control Forms, 1928-1962, show that P. M. (sic) Sims, Co, E, 12, W.Va., death date Apr 11 1865, was reinterred in Grave No. 3167 at Hampton National Cemetery in Virginia, his original burial being at Portsmouth Cemetery in Virginia. His military grave marker, a photo of which is posted at Findagrave, is badly worn and virtually unreadable. Note (2) Widow's pension claim filed by Frances A. Sims on May 10 1864.
