Event Notes Note (1) Captured by Confederate troops at Cloyd's Mountain, Virginia, on May 9 1864. He was imprisoned in Georgia at the infamous Andersonville POW camp, where he died of scorbutus (scurvy) and starvation four months later. His death date is considered in official government records to be Sep 14 1864, although dates of Sep 24 or Sep 25 1864 have also been reported. Note (2) Birth date given in 1900 Census as Aug 1913, but date on headstone is 1812. Her obituary states that she "had completed her 89th year, having been born while the ware of 1812 was in progress; her father being one of those who gave his services to his country." Note (3) Birth date given in 1900 Census as Sep 1846, but date on headstone is 1847. Note (4) Birth date given in 1900 Census as Jun 1853, but the date on his headstone is 1851. According to a statement made by his mother when filing for a widow's pension on his father's military service, he was born on June 14, 1851. Note (5) Birth date given in 1900 Census as Oct 1853, and the monument for her and her husband and son at New England Cemetery also shows her birth date as 1853. But her single grave marker at Newkirk Cemetery shows it as Oct 3 1854. Note (6) There are two grave markers for Catharine Morris Lieber. There is a monument at New England Cemetery in Wood Co, WV, for Catharine A. Lieber, her husband, and their son George. But her name has only her birth date, with the death date left blank. At Newkirk Cemetery in Kay Co, Oklahoma, there is a flat grave marker inscribed with "Grandmother" for Catherine A. Lieber. It is assumed that she is interred at Newkirk, her last known residence.
