Event Notes
Note (1) Captured by Confederate troops at Cloyd's Mountain, Virginia, on May 9 1864. 
He was imprisoned in Georgia at the infamous Andersonville POW camp, where he
died of scorbutus (scurvy) and starvation four months later.  His death date is
considered in official government records to be Sep 14 1864, although dates of
Sep 24 or Sep 25 1864 have also been reported.
